Dundarave Show & Ride

The 5th Annual Dundarave Porsche Show and Ride for Cystic Fibrosis

Mark this day in your personal calendars: Sunday, June 20, 2010as on this day ( Fathers Day) we will hold our next annual Dundarave Porsche Show and Ride charity fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis.

With support from the Dundarave Merchants Association and by special permit of the District of West Vancouver we will once again stage a great Porsche Show ‘n Shine display right in the heart of delightful Dundarave Village. As in previous years, the 2400 block on Marine Drive will have its traffic reduced in both directions to one lane each way to allow for the display of our cars. The static display occurs from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. sharp, at which time all cars on display will fire up their engines to head west along Marine Drive towards the upper level highway in the Parade Drive up Cypress mountain for a photo session on the overflow parking lot.

This is PCA-CWR Good Works event with the purpose of raising money for medical research to help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis, a deadly genetic disease affecting children and young adults across Canada. Money will be raised by means of a donation of $25 or more to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for having your Porsche in the event, and by selling off rides in the Porsche Parade up Cypress (and back!) to the public for $25 or higher donation to the CCFF. Donations of $40 or more will be issued a tax receipt by the CCFF.

The event will be open to PCA-CWR members - as well as anyone else with a Porsche - as this will be a good opportunity to attract new members to the PCA and to promote interest in our favorite marque. We had a great variety of Porsche types and model years on display in previous shows, with as many as 90 cars participating last year, and maybe this year – our 5th anniversary year - we’ll hit the 100 Porsches mark, and we might just be able to fit them all in on the 2400 block!

Event Registration:

On line registration for this event is now open via the secure web site of the Vancouver and Lower Mainland Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Please sign up soon so you can be guaranteed a place in the event! While $25 is the minimum registration fee, I hope that members will be generous and make this year’s event the most successful Dundarave fundraiser yet, and remember its very worth cause. You will find the registration form at: https://www.cfvancouver.ca/dundarave_registration.htm

Registration for rides in the Porsche Parade up Cypress will be available shortly at www.showandride.ca. These rides will be advertised on event posters that will go up around the North Shore area in early June - as was done in previous years - and hopefully we will get some good media coverage again.

Event Support:

We’re still in the process of working out some corporate support information, and further details regarding some nice door prizes will be forthcoming. And if you are in a position to contribute additional goodies for a raffle or more door prizes I would like to hear from you! Also, if you participated in previous years and have some ideas how to make this event an even better show I would definitely like to hear from! In particular, we’re always looking for ideas as to how to sell more rides up Cypress Mountain to the public – and any and all assistance by members to sell the rides in their own cars to friends, family, co-workers, etc. will be great appreciated!
