Hi,

Has anyone used a bike rack on a Boxster like the Bird or custom made model that doesn't require straps, mounts on the rear trunk to avoid damage to the paint, body?    I've done some heavy digging and only seen a couple of options that doesn't require modifications to the car.  One is Bird which I am considering getting, the other is a posting on YouTube using the bumper guard mounts which is quite ingenious but wonder about the load strength.

hi everyone,

I thought I'd share I did buy the BIRD bike rack and very pleased with how it works, no concerns about body paint issues, it did take a bit to install, but did personally, and solid – even did some medium speed autocrossing with it and one bike on the back.  Feel free to email me if any questions.   I am still going to custom make the tow-hitch bracket to remove the straps from the back of the car to enable faster setup/tear-down and access to the rear trunk.
