The 2017 World Endurance Championship has arrived, and Porsche has finally revealed its factory entry for this season. Redesigned for 2017, the 919 will reappear with a two-car, six-driver lineup starting on April 15th at the Six Hours of Silverstone.

For the new season, the 919 Hybrid retains the same monocoque as last year’s car, but features a multitude of drivetrain and aerodynamic changes aimed at increasing lap times while adhering to new FIA regulations.

Some of the most notable aero changes are a raised splitter mandated for this year to decrease cornering speeds on LMP1 cars, and a redesigned air intake system. Porsche also says it designed an aero package specifically for Le Mans that compensates for its long straights and faster curves.
While the 919 retains its 2.0-liter V4 gasoline-powered engine and hybrid system, Porsche has optimized its energy recovery systems in the brakes and exhaust to feed even more power to the updated lithium-ion battery. The entire system is said to make over 900 horsepower in race trim.
