So good in fact this company deserves a plug, I hope the site will allow it. ( I have no affiliation with this company whatsoever, just a very satisfied customer)

At the recommendation from James at Scan I took my 993 key and blank I have had for two years (because the previous places I went to said they could not cut it) to Pacific Lock and Safe. They asked me to come first thing in the morning and bring my car if possible, because they are on the road by 9:30 (This is a commercial operation vs. a key cutting place)

I arrived 5 minutes prior to the requested 8:30 and Dave Davi, the person I had made the arrangements with was there waiting for me. He took my key (the 911 jack knife style) and after a little trouble finding a cutting machine that would take the key without having to remove it from the housing he cut it for me.

He then gave me my original and the new cut key and said go try it, I may need to adjust it a bit. My car was a block away because I was not sure exactly where they were when I first arrived, so I pulled out my wallet to pay him and Dave says Oh don't worry about paying me, it's on the house, the $15 I quoted you was for a 928 key, the 911's are easier and I like to do a good deed for someone every day. Just come back with the car so I can make any adjustments that are required for smooth operation.

So I took the key, went and got my car and the key did need some adjustment, so Dave proceeded to hand file the key because the jack knife part was in the way on the cutting machine, he did about 6 trips back and forth to my car because he wanted it to work perfectly. Once it did, he then decided my locks and ignition needed a bit of lubrication so he went back in to the shop and got some lubrication and proceeded to do that as well.

When it was all done, I said well that was allot more work than the initial cut, you have to let me pay you. He said no thanks, but if you have a $5 and want to toss it in to our employee coffee fund I will gratefully accept that. So I tossed in $10 and left a very satisfied customer.

How nice to finally have a spare key

I also have high recommendations for Pacific Lock and Safe,
Not only did they cut new keys to match my Porsche VIN number they also recoded the locks to factory spec's.
They are one of a very few places in all of North America that can cut keys for the 928.
Great job at a very resonable price.

Always good to hear of a good company. I had good service at Keyhole Locksmiths in Langley. I brought in my 76 ignition switch and the only key I had, badly damaged. They made two new keys at a very reasonable price.

Interesting, I picked up a 2006 Boxster in July but unfortunately the seller could only find one key, so I'm interested in getting a spare. I've had a few quotes, but they range from $400 to over $700. You know you are in trouble when they say 'are you sitting down?' before they give the quote. I'll check these guys out and see if they can save me a few bucks. I'll post back if that's another good news story…
